Dr. Clyde A. Maxwell, Jr.
Dr. Clyde A. Maxwell, Jr., a general dentist for over 25 years, is the founder of Gentle Touch Smiles for Kids. For him, superior patient care and professional, friendly service are paramount. His primary passion is to reduce the fear and apprehension that children have about visiting the dentist. He has developed a model that is incredibly effective at influencing children to embrace dental treatment time and time again! He has such a wonderful patient rapport that he has become affectionately known as “Dr. Max” to those he serves.
His office provides a playful, fun and energetic atmosphere for the entire family to enjoy. The signature waiting area is appropriately called “The Smile Zone.” The Smile Zone is a state-of-the-art, exciting facility designed for children of all ages. It includes a jungle gym, arcade games, toddler play areas, and Delaware’s only XD Theatre, all available at no cost. Also, while in a treatment room, each patient is able to enjoy a favorite movie on Netflix.
In addition to offering an exceptional office environment, Dr. Maxwell provides excellent dental treatment. He has developed a unique technique of singing to his patients - while chairside - in a jovial manner to distract them from worry, and to calm any anxiety.
Dr. Max began his formal education at Rutgers University (New Jersey), in 1986. He received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1992 from the University of Michigan. He then served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps until 1995 as the officer in charge of Dental Clinics. During that time, he was accepted into the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. Thereafter, he established Gentle Touch Dentistry which has evolved over the years into Gentle Touch Smiles for Kids.
